Where it all began

The first voyage. Built and proven at sea.

Pellny was created and tested on a real Atlantic crossing — Antigua to Newport, via Bermuda. That beta lives on at searoute.de; we're no longer broadcasting live, but the route, the photos and the log are still there to explore.

The story behind the name
A good friend once took away all my fears about sailing. Now I build the tool that keeps him present on every voyage.
— Fabio Fischer, Founder
In 2002, Wolfgang Pellny — a Düsseldorf restaurateur and close friend — bought a used boat in Stade, near Hamburg, and called. Fabio had never set foot on a sailboat. He said yes. Wolfgang turned a landlubber into a sailor, and took away every fear. He passed away in 2024; the app carries his name. For Wolfgang Pellny — who started it all.
